European platform recognizes support for the campaign against the blockade of Cuba

Havana, April 21 (RHC) - The channel Europe for Cuba today highlighted the support of various organizations in Canada for its campaign "World Tsunami against the blockade of Cuba", to promote the rejection of this US policy throughout the planet.

Activated on April 3, the initiative calls on associations, personalities and citizens to carry out activities from country to country and from continent to continent as waves of solidarity with the Caribbean island.

José Antonio Toledo, one of the Europe for Cuba coordinators, explained that the organization is satisfied with the participation of Canadians and Cubans residing in the northern nation, where the campaign began and will continue in the coming days in the American continent.

In his opinion, all actions count to denounce and condemn the blockade, both on the street and on social networks.

In Canada the response was broad, and included organizations such as the Canadian Network of Solidarity with Cuba, Not Just Turist, Cuba Canada Friendship Association and Fire This Time and those of Cuban residents in Toronto Juan Gualberto Gómez and in the capital Ottawa. Writer and journalist Arnold August, member of the Network of Intellectuals and Artists in Defense of Humanity; and Tamara Hansen, coordinator of the Vancouver Communities in Solidarity with Cuba, added their voices to the repudiation of the hostility of the United States.

Among the activities was the filling of a container with medical supplies for Cuba, thanks to the efforts of various people.

From Vancouver, Alison Bodine described the blockade as criminal and demanded the immediate removal of the Caribbean island from Washington's unilateral list of countries sponsoring terrorism. Activist Samantha Hislop, co-responsible for the Canadian Solidarity Network with Cuba, also condemned the siege and demanded the withdrawal of the Caribbean nation from the US list on terrorism.

Hislop and other participants in the campaign recognized the initiative of the channel Europe for Cuba, scheduled for April and May in principle. In this regard, Toledo advanced the possible extension of the "tsunami" until June, considering that the objective is to offer the opportunity to join organizations, personalities and citizens of America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
