FM Bruno Rodriguez praises Cuba´s commitment to regional integration
Havana, Apr 27 (RHC) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Thursday stressed that signing the Acapulco Declaration is evidence of his country's commitment to genuine regional integration for the regional peoples´ benefit.
On Twitter, the Cuban minister said that the historic signing by Cuba, Mexico and Colombia will allow the establishment of the Regulatory Agency of Medicines and Medical Devices of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The three countries signed the text that includes details and commitments of a common initiative for a new regional drug agency for better health self-sufficiency and access to medical devices.
Some experts describe the initiative as a milestone since the region has no infrastructure for producing vaccines and other drugs, or authorization for the emergency use of drugs.
“With the Acapulco Declaration, we highlight the interest and the need to rebuild our social fabric as brotherly peoples to guarantee the right to health,” Mexico’s Health Secretary Jorge Alcocer stated. (Source: Prensa Latina).
