Vientiane, Apr 30 (RHC) The delegation of the Communist Party of Cuba led by the member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization, Roberto Morales, concluded today a visit to Laos that Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone described as very important.
Receiving Morales and his entourage in a courtesy meeting, the Laotian head of government stressed that, although geographically distant, the two nations have always maintained a close, brotherly relationship.
Siphandone took the opportunity to send congratulations to his Cuban counterpart, Manuel Marrero, for his ratification in office and in turn thanked the latter for a similar gesture when last year he was elected to head the Laotian Executive.
Morales stressed that this visit provided an opportunity for both parties to discuss how to continue expanding the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the two countries, which next year will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
Before this meeting, the senior Cuban party leader and his companions were received by the Speaker of the Lao National Assembly (Parliament), Saysomphone Phomvihane, who expressed his satisfaction for the realization of this significant visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
Phomvihane expressed his feelings of love towards Cuba and sent his best wishes to the leadership of the Party and the Cuban State, especially to his peer Esteban Lazo, for his recent ratification as head of the Legislative. In his first words after a warm greeting, Morales talked about the intense program exhausted during the three-day stay in this Southeast Asian nation as part of a tour that began last April 23 in China and will end next May 4 in Hanoi.
The day before, the Cuban delegation participated in the first theoretical seminar between the parties of both countries, cataloged by Morales himself as a milestone in inter-party relations.
These exchanges represent an important scenario to socialize experiences and knowledge on the construction of socialism, he stressed at the opening of the forum and pointed out that "advancing in this aspiration requires enriching the ideological and practical legacy, particularly the contributions of (Karl) Marx, (Vladimir) Lenin and our national heroes".
In the case of Cuba, he said, its paradigm finds its most complete synthesis in the National Hero José Martí and the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, in the teachings of Army General Raúl Castro and the leadership of the first secretary of the Central Committee of the PCC, Miguel Díaz-Canel.
Also on Saturday, the Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba expressed his satisfaction at noting during his visit the excellent state of relations with Laos.
It is necessary to continue working tirelessly so that these are a symbol of what should be the links between socialist countries, Morales stressed when meeting with the member of the Political Bureau and permanent member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (PPRL), Bounthong Chitmany.
