Cuban president supports young people detained on their return to the US
Havana, May 4 (RHC) - Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today offered his support to the members of the youth delegation who visited Cuba and who were detained for several hours upon their return to the United States.
Despite having traveled legally, they were harassed and held for secondary questioning upon arrival at the Miami and New York airports by the Customs and Border Patrol. They were also searched and their phones seized by mistake, action they described as "scandalous behavior" that seeks to "intimidate us and criminalize our right to travel and exchange”.
The delegation of more than 150 young people is considered one of the largest that has traveled to the Caribbean country in decades. Since their arrival on April 24, they were able to understand the consequences of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States. (Source: Prensa Latina)
