Cuban president at the G77 Tourism Ministers meeting
Havana, May 5 (RHC) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel participated today in the meeting of the Tourism Ministers of the Group of 77 plus China.
Juan Carlos García, Cuban Minister of Tourism, described the meeting as profitable since it allowed the members to discuss the challenges of the field in a context of global crisis.
García stressed that tourism is a multisectoral activity that can contribute to the three dimensions of sustainable development: poverty reduction, economic growth and job creation. In this sense, he said that the meeting made it possible to exchange on the current challenges in tourism and its links with the preservation of heritage and sustainable development.
He recalled that the Covid-19 particularly affected this activity and showed its direct impact on the development of nations in a context of unilateral coercive measures, climate change, the deepening of social and economic inequalities, and the increase in the digital gap. He highlighted the importance of unity to find comprehensive solutions, and international collaboration to strengthen policies and financial support to ensure livelihoods. (Source: Prensa Latina)
