Havana, May 12 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked on Friday the Association of Caribbean States (ACS) for its pronouncements against the blockade imposed by the United States on our country, at the 9th Summit of the regional organization.

"The 9th ACS Summit joins the call to remove Cuba from the unilateral list of the United States on countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism and to put an end to the blockade that damages so much the welfare of our people," said the head of state in his account on the social network Twitter.

In the final declaration of the conclave, the attending delegations condemned the tightening of the U.S. blockade in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, with an extraterritorial character, and pointed out that it causes serious damage to the well-being of the Cuban people.

The document welcomed the holding in Havana on September 15 and 16 of a Summit of Heads of State and/or Government of the Group of 77 on the challenges of development entitled The Role of Science, Technology and Innovation.

One of the main objectives of the meeting is to promote cooperation projects for the benefit of developing nations, including ACS Members.

Founded in 1994, the ACS is an organization for consultation and cooperation that aims to create a space for joint economic discussion for the benefit of its members.    (Source: Prensa Latina).
