Havana, May 26 ( RHC)-- The Third European Union (EU)-Cuba Joint Council is meeting Friday in Havana in a constructive atmosphere, in the interest of strengthening bilateral relations.

The meeting is chaired by Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Trade, Ricardo Cabrisas; and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security, and Vice President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell.

In welcoming the EU Foreign Minister and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Havana, Cabrisas highlighted the interest in promoting the implementation of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement (ADPC) between the parties.

The deputy prime minister greeted the Swedish representation in charge of the rotating presidency of the 27-nation community bloc, and wished success to Spain, which will assume its leadership on July 1.

Borrell, for his part, praised the atmosphere of frankness and constructive will with which the dialogues of the third Joint Council, which closes this cycle of talks on the progress of the ADPC, are resuming.
