Governor and Deputy Governor of Havana are sworn in

Havana, June 4 (RHC)-- The President of the Cuban Parliament and the Council of State, Esteban Lazo Hernández headed this Sunday the swearing-in ceremony of the governor and deputy-governor elected by the municipal delegates of the People's Power in Havana.

Activities of this type occurred in unison throughout the country presided over by members of the Council of State and with representation of local authorities of the Communist Party of Cuba, the government, institutions and resident deputies of the highest legislative body.

The celebration, which took place at the Martí Theater in the historic center of the Cuban capital, was also attended by Rebel Army Commander José Ramón Machado Ventura and other guests.

Lazo Hernández declared Yanet Hernández Pérez and Jesús Otamendiz Campos, as governor and vice-governor, respectively, in office.

The president of the Cuban Parliament also announced that the Provincial Council of People's Power in Havana was officially constituted and in full exercise of its functions.

He also indicated the lines of work to be followed to achieve the objectives called to consolidate more agile and efficient local government bodies, without their interference in municipal autonomy.

During the occasion, the work carried out by his predecessor Reynaldo García Zapata, who was awarded the Giraldilla de La Habana, the highest distinction granted by the Provincial Council of People's Power in the city, was recognized.

Luis Antonio Torres Iríbar, member of the Central Committee of the Party and first secretary of the political organization in the territory, highlighted how despite the difficulties, the will of the people has prevailed to go ahead with the construction of the Cuban social project.

He also ratified the invariable support of the Party to those who conclude and initiate the task, in the effort that this can be carried out with all the energy and quality required.

Yanet Hernández Pérez, 53 years old, is a doctor in Pedagogical Sciences, specialist in Defectology and Behavioral Disorders. Since 2020, she has served as deputy governor of the capital city.

Hernandez Perez holds other responsibilities as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power for the municipality of Boyeros with extensive experience in the sector in which she served as director of School, municipal and provincial director of Education, general director of Management and Strategic Relations in the Ministry of Education.
