Lebanese media highlight Iranian president's visit to Cuba

Beirut, June 16 (RHC)-- Lebanese media today highlighted the visit of the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, to Cuba in the context of his first official tour of Latin America.

On the front page, the local channel Al Manar and the pan-Arab news network Al Mayadeen highlighted the strengthening of relations between Iran and Cuba to face the sanctions imposed on both countries.

Al Manar TV channel highlighted the signing of six agreements between Cuba and Iran which include integral cooperation in foreign relations and political consultations; as well as in customs matters, exchange of information and development of cadres; in addition to communications and technology and justice.

At the same time, the media reflected the intention of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel to visit Tehran before the end of the year and his words condemning interference in the internal affairs of the Islamic Revolution.

In this sense, the Al Mayadeen communication platform highlighted the meeting between Army General Raul Castro and President Raisi as a reaffirmation of the two nations to continue strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation, as well as the high-level political dialogue.

From its multiple platforms in Arabic, English and Spanish, Al Mayadeen accompanied the Iranian delegation's tour to Latin America and its screen time showed Raisi's agenda in Caracas, Managua and Havana.

In an article, political scientist and international analyst Mohammad Faraj evoked the figure of Commander Fidel Castro, and his recognition from the first moment of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

The columnist pointed out Cuba's support to Iran in its peaceful nuclear program, considering it a legitimate right of the countries of the South; and in that sense, he promoted a broad campaign within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement. Other elements mentioned by Faraj in the vision of the historical leader of the Cuban revolution with respect to Iran was the revolutionary thinking approach of the Islamic Revolution against injustice and domination in the face of hegemony and imperialism.

For its part, the Al-Akhbar newspaper reported the Iranian president's participation in the Business Forum and the interest in expanding cooperation in the biotechnological, technical, medical and energy fields.

Incidentally, the newspaper emphasized the commitment of the two countries to work quickly to implement measures aimed at strengthening the Iranian business presence in the Caribbean island and promoting joint business.
