Havana, June 22 (RHC) The first Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel, stated on Thursday in France at the Summit for a New World Financial Pact, that he will give voice to the positions of the Group of 77 plus China (G-77+China), a coordination mechanism of which his country assumed the pro tempore presidency this year.
Through Twitter, the head of state pointed out that at the event scheduled for June 22 and 23, Cuba will fulfill the responsibility of representing the Group in the thematic axes addressed, especially the historic claims of the nations of the South.
Díaz-Canel highlighted that the fulfillment of the 2030 Agenda and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda must be accompanied by a deep rethinking of the current economic, financial, and trade order, in which new bases of justice, equity, and solidarity are established, with a new relationship between North and South.
The Cuban delegation, which also includes Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, was received today at the Summit's headquarters, the Palais Brongniart in Paris, by Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of France.
According to authorities of the Caribbean nation, their priority in the Presidency of the G-77+China, assumed in January of this year, is to promote international solidarity and cooperation in support of post-pandemic recovery for the developing world.
This coordination mechanism brings together 134 states, which together represent 80 percent of the world's population and more than two-thirds of the membership of the United Nations. (Source: ACN)
