Havana, July 12 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez has endorsed the statement by the International Relations Commission of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) in rejection of an anti-Cuban resolution approved Wednesday by the European Parliament (EP).
The head of Cuban diplomacy shared on Twitter the text published by the legislature, which warns that the EP lacks the moral, political and legal authority to judge Cuba.
For his part, Roberto Morales Ojeda, secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba supported the National Assembly's statement and rejected the EP resolution.
He pointed out that the document contributes to the U.S. attempt to isolate our country and goes against the principles of respect, inclusion and cooperation of the III Summit between the European Union (EU) and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), to be held between July 17 and 18, in Brussels, Belgium.
On the same social network, Aylín Álvarez, first secretary of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists; Teresa Amarelle Boue, secretary general of the Federation of Cuban Women; and Alfonso Noya, president of the Institute of Information and Social Communication, among others, supported the Cuban Parliament's resolution.
The EP approved with 359 votes in favor, 226 against and 50 abstentions, a resolution condemning alleged violations and abuses of human rights in Cuba and calling for the application of sanctions against President Miguel Díaz-Canel and other high-ranking leaders of the country.
Following the approval of the text, international organizations and European parliamentarians such as Manuel Pineda and Massimiliano Smeriglio condemned its content and expressed their support for the Cuban people and government.
