UN mission highlights Cuba's role in peace in Colombia
Havana, July 12 (RHC) The special representative of the Secretary General and head of the UN Verification Mission in Colombia, Carlos Ruiz Massieu, highlighted Cuba's role in favor of peace in the South American nation on Wednesday.
Ruiz considered the results achieved in the framework of the third cycle of negotiations between the Government and the National Liberation Army (ELN), held in Cuba, very encouraging. He assured that few countries have done what Cuba has done for peace in Colombia, and that Colombia is pleased that the results were achieved in Havana cycle.
The head of the UN Verification Mission recalled that some years ago when a possible review of the issue of the designation of Cuba was glimpsed, the Secretary General celebrated it because it would be a correct decision.
The official of the multilateral organization reiterated his personal and institutional recognition of Cuba's role in this peace process. (Source: PL)
