Demand in France to respect Cuba and stop attacking it

Paris, July 16 (RHC)-- The France-Cuba and Cuba Linda associations demanded Saturday respect for the island and its right to self-determination, as well as an end to aggressions against the Caribbean country.

In separate statements, they condemned a recent resolution adopted in the European Parliament against Cuba, which they considered a maneuver to attack the Political Dialogue and Cooperation agreement between the Antillean nation and the European Union (EU), signed in 2016.

Likewise, they denounced the text as an attempt to affect the Summit to be held in Brussels on July 17 and 18 between the EU and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac).

Cuba Linda and France Cuba rejected the subordination in Europe to the U.S. hostility towards the island, a position they described as lacking independence.

The French associations reiterated their solidarity with Cuba and their repudiation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by Washington for more than six decades.

Regarding the blockade, they coincided in criticizing its extraterritorial scope, which affects European companies and citizens.

Cuba Linda urged the EU to use the legal tools available to protect its interests in the face of this extraterritoriality. (Source: Prensa Latina)
