Johannesburg, August 23 (RHC) -- The presidents of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, and China, Xi Jinping, held a dialogue on Wednesday in the context of the 15th BRICS Summit.

Both presidents are participating in the meeting in their respective capacities as leaders of one of the countries that make up the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), and president of the G77 and China.

The two presidents expressed their satisfaction with the meeting, which corresponded with the excellent state of relations existing between their countries.

"It is a pleasure to meet with you, my friend," Xi Jinping told Díaz-Canel, as they reminisced about the Cuban president's state visit to China last year.   On that occasion, Havana and Beijing reached broad consensus, Xi recalled.

For his part, Diaz-Canel said he was very pleased to meet again, and welcomed the possibility of holding the meeting in the midst of the intense agenda of the Chinese president at the XV Brics Summit.

During the meeting, Díaz-Canel reiterated his invitation to Xi Jinping to visit Cuba.  He said that the Cuban people admire him.  (Source: PL)
