Havana, August 31 (RHC)-- The Cuban Foreign Ministry congratulated Thursday through X - formerly Twitter - the people and government of Trinidad and Tobago on the occasion of its National Day.

In its message, the Foreign Ministry ratified the will to continue consolidating ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation.

Both Caribbean nations established diplomatic ties on December 8, 1972, and since then have maintained ties under the principle of mutual respect and collaboration.

Trinidad and Tobago rejects the blockade policy of the United States government against Cuba, which for more than six decades has hindered the economic and social development of the largest island of the Antilles.

The Trinidadian nation declared its independence on August 31, 1962, with the People's National Movement, founded by the first leader of the nation, Eric Williams, after breaking away from Great Britain and consolidating itself as an independent country. (Source:PL)
