Díaz-Canel receives the presidents of Sri Lanka and the Comoros
Havana, Sept 14 (RHC) Cuban president Miguel Díaz-Canel received this Thursday at the Palace of the Revolution, in Havana, his counterparts from Sri Lanka, Ranil Wickremesinghe, and from the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani, who are visiting the island to attend the Summit of the Group of 77.
The Cuban head of state and Wickremesinghe confirmed the good state of bilateral relations and highlighted the ties of friendship that unite both peoples.
At the meeting, Díaz-Canel expressed the desire to deepen political dialogue at the highest level and conveyed the interest in expanding economic and commercial ties. He also thanked the Asian nation for its traditional support in the United Nations General Assembly for the demand for the end of the U.S. blockade on Cuba.
Díaz-Canel also exchanged with the president of the Union of the Comoros, Azali Assoumani. During the conversations, they highlighted the unbreakable ties that unite the Caribbean nation with Africa, and reiterated the common will to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation.
Upon his arrival in the Caribbean nation this Thursday, Assoumani declared to the press that the G77 Summit will be a fruitful meeting. He announced that the Final Declaration of the event will reflect the search for a more progressive world, of justice, peace and equity for all humanity.
The great event, with a high presence of representatives from various nations and organizations, focuses on current development challenges, such as the role of science, technology and innovation. (Source: PL)
