The Cuban feature film Habanastation is will be shown at the Calcutta World Film Festival

 

Havana, Sep 20 (RHC) The Cuban feature film Habanastation is part of the billboard of the Second Calcutta World Film Festival, from September 22 to 27, organized by the Federation of Film Societies of India (FFSI).

According to Premedra Mazumder, vice president of FFSI, at the event, supported by Dibyajyoti Mukherjee, director of the Indo-Hispanic Language Academy, 26 films from different countries will be shown, including the film from the Caribbean nation.

Mazumder added that there are plans to hold a Cuban Film Festival in large cities in India through the enormous network of societies that the federation has.

From Latin America and the Caribbean, the films Algo Azul and La Matamoros, from Panama, Who Are We Then, from Costa Rica, and Habanastation, from Cuba, are included in the program of the Calcutta World Film Festival.

The public will also be able to enjoy feature films from Portugal, Egypt, France, Nepal, Russia, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Armenia, Iran and Bangladesh.

Founded in 1959 by legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray, the Federation of Film Societies of India is the country's apex body with over 350 regular and 100 university associations spread across the Asian nation. It has five regional offices in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum and Kolkata, with the latter as its headquarters. (Source: PL)
