United Nations, September 22 (RHC) -- Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, in a meeting in New York City with his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodriguez, reaffirmed today Russia's firm position on the need to lift the blockade imposed by Washington against the Caribbean country.
They also ratified the excellent state of bilateral relations and the mutual will to deepen economic, commercial, financial and cooperation ties for the benefit of both peoples.
The meeting between the two foreign ministers took place on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian representation to the international organization announced on Friday.
The two ministers noted the unchanged approach of their respective countries to the categorical unacceptability of the application of unilateral sanctions measures in violation of the UN Charter, the source said.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to the strengthening of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership.
The foreign ministers noted with satisfaction the maintenance of intense dynamics of political dialogue between Moscow and Havana, and confirmed the mutual desire to increase interaction at the UN and other multilateral platforms.
They also exchanged views on current issues on the regional and international agenda, added the Russian representation to the UN. (Source:PL)
