Hanoi, September 12 (RHC) -– The Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, expressed his support and solidarity to Cuba as he welcomed Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, who concluded an official visit to that South East Asian country on Thursday.
During the meeting, Nguyen sent his regards to Cuban President Raúl Castro and said Rodríguez's visit helps to strengthen bilateral ties, which have had a solid foundation throughout history and have become evident through mutual cooperation in several areas.
Both sides referred to next year's 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the countries, as the Vietnamese leader suggested to increase and extend bilateral cooperation in areas like, politics, economy, culture, science, technology and health care.
The Secretary-General said he was certain that the Cuban people will successfully accomplish the process of reform of its economic model under the guidance of the Communist Party.
Previously, the Cuban foreign minister held official talks with his Vietnamese counterpart and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, in which they agreed to strengthen consultation mechanisms and reciprocal support in international forums.
