Havana, Oct 4 (RHC) The multi-sector macro business roundtable of the Latin American Integration Association -ALADI- ends today in Cuba after holding around 2,500 confirmed business meetings between businessmen from across the region.
Expoaladi 2023 resumed its in-person modality after three years of virtual participation, due to the confinement generated by the Covid-19 pandemic, and was attended by delegations from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
The tenth edition of this event was held at the Havana fair and exhibition center of Pabexpo and attended by 364 companies from those 13 Latin American nations, of which 208 were exporters and 156 were importers.
This two-day event constituted an opportunity for Cuban entities, whose commercial and financial operations are hampered by the US economic blockade on the island, which considerably affects the Cuban population.
Cuban authorities participated in the inauguration, including President Miguel Díaz-Canel; the prime minister, Manuel Marrero; the Deputy Prime Minister Jorge Luis Perdomo, and the First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ana Teresita González.
On behalf of the Latin American Integration Association, Aladi's Undersecretary of Cooperation, Technical Assistance and Support to Countries with Less Relative Economic Development, Mónica Martínez, attended.
Aladi is an international intergovernmental organization created on August 12, 1980 by the Treaty of Montevideo to promote the harmonious and balanced economic and social development of the member countries, using regional economic integration as an instrument.
Expoaladi is the maximum commercial promotion event held annually by this organization since 2014.
Within the framework of the meeting, which took place for the first time in the Caribbean, the macro business roundtable was held, as a space to enhance and diversify intraregional trade.
The meeting was focused on the exchange of goods in the fields of agribusiness and livestock, food and beverages, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, textiles, clothing and footwear, plastics, containers and packaging, which play a prominent role in the regional economy.
It also focused on the services provided to companies, communications, transportation, tourism, important sectors for the development of commercial relations between the countries that make up ALADI. (Source: PL)
