Havana, October 26 (Web Network) --The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel denounced Thursday the consequences for the Cuban people of more than six decades of unjust economic, commercial and financial blockade by the United States.

In his profile on the EX social network, the dignitary pointed out that "the accumulated damages in more than 60 years of genocidal blockade against Cuba amount to 159 billion 84.3 million USD, and more than one trillion 300 thousand, if the fluctuation of the dollar against gold is taken into account".

"The human cost could never be quantified", Díaz-Canel added in his message, and added the label Better without blockade.

The unilateral and criminal measure seeks a change of system in Cuba, through the aggravation of hunger, the proliferation of diseases and the general discontent of the population.

Since 1992, the Cuban government has been presenting to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) the resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba", supported every year by the vast majority of countries, which the White House ignores.

On November 1 and 2, for the thirty-first consecutive time, this resolution will be presented.

Recently, the State Duma of the Russian Federation called on the UNGA, the Parliaments of the UN member states and international parliamentary organizations to condemn the blockade, to develop and implement practical measures to encourage Washington to put an end to this genocide and to guarantee respect for the universally recognized principles and norms of international law.
