Havana, October 27 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel lamented Friday the death of prominent Cuban intellectual Dr. Maria Dolores Ortiz.

"We greatly regret the passing of the beloved Dr. María Dolores Ortiz, whom for so many years we enjoyed in the emblematic program Escriba y Lea. For her culture, wisdom and simplicity she won the hearts of the Cuban people. Our condolences go to her family", the president wrote in his account in X.

Ortiz was a doctor in Philological Sciences, full professor at the University of Havana, professor of merit at the Enrique José Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute and National Labor Heroine of the Republic of Cuba.
