Havana, October 27 (RHC)-- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez welcomed Friday the approval by the United Nations General Assembly of the resolution presented on the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.

Israel and the United States, its main accomplice, cannot ignore the demand of the international community expressed in the resolution to stop the Palestinian barbarism, the foreign minister stressed on the social network X.

The approved text, added Rodriguez, calls for an immediate and lasting humanitarian truce leading to the cessation of hostilities, the urgent establishment of a mechanism to protect the Palestinian civilian population, demands respect for international law, rejects the forced displacement of civilians and advocates the sending of emergency humanitarian aid.

The resolution, presented by Jordan, is the first to be adopted by a United Nations body after four drafts failed in the Security Council since the outbreak of violence on October 7.
It calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all civilians illegally held captive, demanding their safety, welfare and humane treatment, while stressing the importance of preventing further destabilization and escalation of violence in the region.

"A just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can only be achieved by peaceful means, on the basis of the relevant United Nations norms, in accordance with international law, and on the basis of the principle of two States as a solution," the text stresses.
