Cuban Ministry of Tourism presents portfolio of opportunities at the Havana International Fair
Havana, Nov 9 (RHC) Real estate development projects, hotel construction, and administration contracts make up the portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment, presented by the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), at the 39th Havana International Fair.
Suyen Rivero, MINTUR business director, said that businessmen from China, Spain and the United Arab Emirates are mainly interested in joint venture projects that total 34 for the construction of hotels in the main tourist centers of the country.
She explained that they also show special interest in the real estate sector linked to tourism, including golf courses, shopping centers and hotels, which would be located in the provinces of Artemisa, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, and Holguín.
The MINTUR board told Radio Havana Cuba that 51 projects for hotel management and marketing contracts are in the portfolio of opportunities, and that this is one of the highest volume businesses for the sector.
The board said that there are 115 existing contracts with nearly 20 internationally prestigious chains from countries such as Spain, Canada, Indonesia and Türkiye, among others.
They cited other possible projects for foreign investment in non-hotel, marina and campsite activities, whose current facilities are intended to be improved and raised to a higher standard.
Rivero highlighted the importance of the Havana International Fair as a setting for establishing contacts, starting negotiations and concretizing some of them.
Businessmen and other professionals from more than 60 countries participate in the largest commercial exchange held annually on the island. In this edition, Cuba brings its portfolio of opportunities for foreign investment that includes 729 projects, 21 more than the previous year, according to official sources.
