Cuba rejects US slanderous references on terrorism

Havana, Dec 2 (RHC) Cuba today rejected the slanderous references made by the United States Department of State against the Caribbean country, in its most recent report on terrorism for the year 2022.

In a statement published on its website, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that the elements exposed in the report makes dishonest use of the pretexts to justify the presence of the island on the list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that the list serves to impose measures of economic coercion against countries with which the US Government has political disagreements.

The text states that the arbitrary classification of Cuba is the object of overwhelming rejection at the international level and by numerous political and social organizations within the United States itself.

Likewise, it points out that US government authorities have sufficient information to verify the Cuba’s commitment in confronting terrorism, a proof of this being the official bilateral exchanges between the two countries on the specific issue of terrorism.

The text also assures that the island will maintain its efforts in the fight against terrorism, of which it has been a victim, at the cost of 3,478 deaths and 2,099 disabled people.

According to the statement, all of these victims are a consequence of actions organized, financed and perpetrated fundamentally from the territory of the United States by individuals and organizations that operate there with the tolerance, complicity and protection of the government of that country.
