Havana, December 2 (RHC) -- Cuba's Prime Minister Manuel Marrero spoke Saturday in Santa Clara with workers of small industries and agricultural farms in areas surrounding this city in the center of the country.

During his tour, the Cuban leader visited the Cubanacán mini-industry of the Ramón Pando Ferrer Credit and Service Cooperative (CCS), which is part of the United Nations Wings Project and a strategic support for food security in Cuba.

Maikel Infanta, head of operations of the entity, said that from a 72-hectare fruit farm they supply their products to the industry and to seven sales points in the city of Santa Clara.

The head of the Cuban Government requested the elaboration of compotes, especially from guava, because of the goodness that allows producing it all year round with minimum attention and congratulated the workers for their results.

The Cuban Prime Minister also visited the farm: Sí se puede, of the producer Yunier Hernández, who related that he received more than 40 hectares covered with marabú (bush with thorny branches) and has already planted more than 30 of beans of different varieties.

He emphasized that he does not use any chemical products, but natural fertilizers in close collaboration with scientists from the Universidad Central Marta Abreu de Las Villas.

Marrero acknowledged the effort and results of Yunier and his workers and urged to plant corn and soybeans, and to venture into chickpeas, as well as to maintain the contribution to the people's food supply through the basic food basket (Source: Prensa Latina). (Source: Prensa Latina).
