Havana, December 7 (RHC) -- The president of the National Assembly of People's Power (Parliament) of Cuba, Esteban Lazo Hernandez commemorated Thursday the 89th anniversary of the birth of fighter Frank Pais (1934-1957), one of the leaders of the 26th of July Movement.
Through the social network account X of the Legislative, Lazo Hernandez recalled that the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016) described País as "a very studious, brave young man (...) He was entirely dedicated to the cause of the Revolution, and rendered extraordinary services to it".
For his part, the Prime Minister of the Republic, Manuel Marrero Cruz emphasized on the platform that the young combatant, at only 22 years of age, demonstrated his unconditional love for his homeland, and gave his life to it.
Frank País was the chief of action and sabotage of the 26th of July Movement, the main political and military force in the confrontation against the Batista dictatorship.
He organized the uprising of November 30 in Santiago de Cuba in support of the expeditionaries of the Granma yacht, which disembarked on December 2, 1956 near Las Coloradas beach. (Source: Prensa Latina)
