Havana, December 11 (RHC) -- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today expressed his condolences and solidarity to his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inácio Lula Da Silva, and the people of that country for the fire that occurred in the Amazonian state of Pará.

The Cuban president sent the embrace of his people to the South American country after the fire caused by an electrical discharge last Saturday night in a camp of the Landless Rural Workers Movement, which left a dozen dead.

According to a communiqué from this peasant organization, the incident occurred when workers installing an Internet antenna accidentally touched some high-voltage cables.

The discharge generated a short circuit which also caused a large fire in the group's camp, installed on the outskirts of the city of Parauapebas.

Three of the company's employees died immediately and six other people perished as a result of the incident. (Source:PL)
