Havana, December 13 (RHC) --Cuban Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya reaffirmed on Wednesday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Cuba's firm commitment to the climate regime, as stated in the Nationally Determined Contribution.
During the closing of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28), she pointed out the need for equity, to change the unfair financial architecture, and for developed countries to fulfill their commitments, with an eye on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On the same social network, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) explained that the conference ended with the First Global Assessment of the implementation of the Paris Agreement, a text that calls for progress in the face of the challenges.
At the closing of the event, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo, Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted in X the realization of the Emirates Consensus, the result of the COP 28 negotiations since its inception on November 30.
The diplomat also highlighted fundamental aspects of the Global Assessment of the Paris Agreement, which raises the need to urgently and deeply reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
She proposed measures such as the transition to energy systems without fossil fuels, tripling renewable energies by 2030, and progressively reducing coal-based energy.
Rodríguez Camejo highlighted the Cuban presence at COP 28, especially the participation of the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, during his recent tour of the Middle East, representing the Group of 77 and China. (Source: ACN)
