Exchange of Journalists between Chile and Cuba

Santiago de Chile, September 20 ( PL-RHC), – The Coordinator of Solidarity with Cuba had a meeting with the president of the Journalists College of Chile, Javiera Olivares, to assess future exchanges on topics of the Caribbean nation. Carlos Lagos and Pedro Bronzic, leaders of the solidarity group, congratulated Olivares on the occasion of her recent election as president of the Journalists College, and presented her with a series of texts related to Cuba.

Especially, Bronzic and Lagos explained the case of the Cuban fighters imprisoned in the US internationally known as The Cuban Five, Cuban antiterrorist fighters of whom three of them remain in prison for 16 years now.

Gerardo Hernandez, Ramon Labañino and Antonio Guerrero, are still in prison while Rene Gonzalez and Fernando Gonzalez returned to the country after fulfilling their respective prison terms.

The Coordinator and the Chilean journalists trade union reached important agreements in search of an approach, to run a forum in November on the Cuban Five reality.

Bronzic told Prensa Latina that the idea of the event is breaking the wall of silence established by the United States, particularly in the case of the Cuban Five.


Likewise, the leader of the trade union of journalists was invited to participate in one of the programs that the Coordinator and a television channel will carry out in October in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution.
