Cubans residing in China foster ties with the island

 

Havana, Dec 23 (RHC) Cubans residing in China today expressed pride in their native country, urged closer ties with the island and rejected the United States blockade.

This was confirmed during the national meeting of this community that took place simultaneously at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in this capital, as well as in the consulates of Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The Association of Cuban Residents in China issued a statement in which it underlined its patriotic feelings and recognized itself as an integral part of the people of the Antillean nation.

"We support the strengthening of our country's relations with members of the Cuban community abroad," says the document read by its coordinator Omar León Sánchez.

In addition, the Association welcomed the participation of emigration in the economic and social transformations of Cuba, while advocating to further expand ties with diplomatic representation here.

Cubans residing in China celebrated the approval of the new immigration and consular measures of July 1, 2023 and the results of the IV Conference “The Nation and Emigration”, about which they learned details at this meeting.

For his part, the island's ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco, offered an overview of the activities and visits of high-level Cuban delegations to the Asian country.

He also highlighted the role of the Cuban community abroad - and in particular that of China - for the development of the island, the rapprochement between families and the strengthening of national pride.

Blanco highlighted to the bridges of love that emigration has built towards Cuba, in the midst of a complex scenario aggravated by the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States.

According to the ambassador, the recent 4th Conference on The Nation and Emigration proved that "a significant number of Cubans residing abroad today maintain a fluid and stable link with the island’s embassies and consulates in the country where they live.

In addition, he welcomed the "growing commercial activity" between the institutions and the economy in general of the island with the community that lives outside the Caribbean nation. (Source: PL)
