During the Diplomatic Gala of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, Blanco emphasized the importance both Cuba and China grant to the protection of cultural heritage
Havana, January 12 (RHC) The Cuban ambassador to China, Alberto Blanco, highlighted the value of intangible cultural heritage for mutual understanding between civilizations and underlined the contributions of the Asian country in its preservation.
During the Diplomatic Gala of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, Blanco also emphasized the importance that both Cuban and Chinese governments grant to the protection of this heritage, recognized as an indispensable element for a true social transformation.
He said that the Antillean nation has a vast cultural wealth, derived from its mestizo character due to influences from regions such as Spain, Africa and China.
According to the diplomat, culture plays a crucial role in the understanding of the Cuban social project, which is why its preservation is a priority despite the media war and the prolonged economic blockade of the United States against the island.
He emphasized China's role as the oldest civilization in the world and leader on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage List, and praised Beijing's commitment to systematically protecting its heritage, as well as supporting exchanges between civilizations through its Global Civilization Initiative.
Blanco reaffirmed Cuba's commitment to implement international instruments to adopt the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, and to work on the global recognition of culture as a driver of Sustainable Development.
Likewise, he highlighted the island's commitment to promoting cultural exchanges and disseminating heritage values among nations, which contribute to people-to-people contacts, mutual knowledge and a global environment of peace and solidarity. (Source: PL)
