Kampala, January 18 (RHC) -- The member of the Political Bureau and vice president of the Republic of Cuba, Salvador Valdés Mesa, arrived in this sister African nation around noon this Thursday (local time), at the head of the delegation of the Greater of the Antilles that will participate in the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) and the Third South Summit.

Upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Valdés Mesa was received by the Minister of the Presidency, Milly Babirye Babalanda, who gave him a warm welcome and said she was "very pleased with his visit".

After the protocol ceremony, both held a brief dialogue in one of the protocol rooms of the air terminal, in which the Cuban Vice President conveyed the "honor of being in Uganda on this occasion, representing Cuba in two very important events".

At the Third South Summit -last held 18 years ago- Cuba will hand over the Protémpore Presidency of the Group of 77 and China to Uganda, which will also assume the leadership of the NAM.

Uganda will always be able to count on Cuba's support to carry out the mission of presiding over both international organizations, Valdés Mesa said.
