Cuba will hold 3rd Colloquium of Latin America’s Décima
Havana, Jan 30 (RHC) The western Cuban province of Matanzas will host the 3rd Colloquium of Latin America’s Decima as part of the 3rd International Scientific Congress of the University Society (UNISOC 2024), organized by the University of Matanzas from January 26 to March 28.
UNISOC 2024, under the theme "For a learning society towards sustainable development", will have Honduras as the guest country of honor and will be held in the resort of Varadero, at the Plaza América Convention Center.
Specifically, the 3rd Colloquium of the Latin America’s Décima will have among the fundamental themes the Studies on the life and work of the Cuban Jesús Orta Ruiz (a.k.a Indio Naborí) and his contributions to the decimista tradition.
It will also focus on essays on cultivators of the oral and written tradition of the Cuban décima; biographical approach to the work of scholars and promoters of orality and writing in different countries of the world; and literary, musical, dance and plastic expressions linked to orality and the popular culture of the people.
