The congress will focus on the role of teaching in social transformation
Havana, Feb 3 (RHC) Cuba is today close to holding the 14th International Congress of Higher Education, from February 5 to 9 and focused on the role of teaching in social transformation.
Convened by the Ministry of Higher Education (MES) of Cuba, the event will take place in the capital's Convention Palace with the participation of ministers, vice ministers, personalities and scholars from more than 40 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, United States and China, as well as representatives of 36 international university organizations and associations.
According to the Cuban Vice Minister of Higher Education, Reynaldo Velázquez, the conclave will be a favorable space for establishing alliances, agreements and cooperation links.
In a press conference, he explained that the Congress will continue the path of contributions from knowledge to the resolution of global challenges contained in the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In the context of the multidimensional planetary crisis and international conflicts in various regions of the world, the defense of higher education as a public good, a human right, and the responsibility of states with the development of societies is pertinent, Velázquez stressed.
In parallel to the conclave, several events will be held, such as an international meeting on Conventions and the homologation of degrees between universities, which will allow Cuba's access to new networks of global academic exchanges. (Source: PL)
