Havana, February 8 (RHC) --The exhibition fair of the XIV International Congress of Higher Education University 2024 illustrates today the results of the application of science and innovation in Cuban universities.

More than thirty stands, belonging to 34 Cuban universities, show the progress made in this field, which is a pillar in the government's management system.

According to the Vice Minister of Higher Education, Reynaldo Velázquez, the role of universities in the development of processes that depend on science and innovation is recognized as never before.

In their role as educational institutions, he explained, the alma maters and research centers are the source of expert knowledge that must be relied upon to make fundamental decisions in the country.

Velázquez detailed to Prensa Latina that the government management system seeks to meet the goals contained in the National Plan for Social Economic Development until 2030.

"That is why it can be seen in the different provinces how the universities are working on a group of priorities, such as the attention to strategic sectors that encourage the Cuban economy," he said.

He mentioned as a common denominator in the houses of higher education, the theme of food production, tourism, logistics, the use of water resources and disruptive technologies.

He emphasized that in the exhibition fair of the Congress it is also possible to appreciate the link between universities and companies, relationships encouraged by the government management system.The deputy minister appreciated the presence at the event of food production entities, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the Electric Union and the Group of Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries of Cuba.

He emphasized that their attendance at the event is a reflection of how the universities are strengthening their links with the business institutions, so that university knowledge can be applied in the entities to obtain improvements in productive results.   (Source: Prensa Latina)
