According to Raed Khalil, director of the festival, this edition is aimed at supporting the Palestinian people

Havana, Feb 13 (RHC) The Cuban caricaturist and cartoonist Javier Cubero Torres won third place today in the 20th International Caricature Festival, held at the Opera House of Damascus.

At the event dedicated this year to the Palestinian resistance and the Palestinian cartoonist Naji Al-Ali, the first prize went to the Iranian artist Ismail Babaei and the second to the Russian Anatoly Radin.

Cubero said he feels honored to contribute his art to this edition dedicated to Naji Al-Ali and the resistance of the Palestinian people.

The Syrian Minister of Culture, Lubana Mashouh, considered that the art of caricature unites the word of free peoples against the false and biased policies of Western governments.

In turn, the artist Raed Khalil, director of the festival and its founder since 2005, explained that this edition had a wide participation from all over the world with important and diverse works.

Khalil pointed out that with the festival, they wanted to convey a message of support to the Palestinian people and the resistance against the Zionist enemy through the art of caricature that reveals Israel's lies to world public opinion. (Source: PL)
