Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines highlights ties of friendship with Cuba

Havana, March 15 (RHC) The Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, highlighted the excellent ties of friendship and collaboration between his country and Cuba, during the farewell ceremony of the Havana ambassador in Kingstown, José Manuel Leyva.

According to a note from the diplomatic mission, the prime minister also recalled his close friendship with the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, and highlighted different moments in the relations between both nations, such as Cuba’s help for the construction of the Argyle International Airport and the hospital in the town of Georgetown, as well as the presence of dozens of health and construction collaborators.

Likewise, he highlighted the visits made by Díaz-Canel in December 2022 and at the recently held 8th Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), and took advantage of the occasion to congratulate Ambassador Leyva and his wife for the successful performance of his functions in more than four years.

In turn, Leyva highlighted the permanent support of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in its condemnation of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba and the unjust inclusion of the country in Washington's list of states that supposedly sponsor terrorism.

In addition, he reiterated his congratulations to the authorities and people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for the success at the CELAC summit, based in this country on March 1.

The meeting was also attended by several members of the cabinet, government officials and a representation of collaborators and Cuban residents in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. (Source: PL)
