Cuba and Bosnia and Herzegovina established diplomatic relations on April 29, 1997

Havana, April 29 (RHC) Cuba today ratified its willingness to continue developing bilateral relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina, in celebration of the 27th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.

Both nations established ties on April 29, 1997, with the Caribbean nation being the first in Latin America to begin ties with that country located on the Balkan Peninsula.

Cuba and Bosnia and Herzegovina expressed their interest in strengthening existing ties in April of last year, during the visit of the Bosnian president, Željka Cvijanović to Havana.

On that occasion, President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted that there are many areas in which Cuba and Bosnia and Herzegovina can have a broader and mutually beneficial relationship, such as agriculture, food production, tourism, higher education, science, technology and innovation.

Likewise, he thanked the Bosnian Government for its traditional support in Cuba's fight against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade of the island. (Source: PL)
