Havana, May 6 (RHC) A few meters from the illegal US enclave imposed in the Guantanamo municipality of Caimanera, the delegates of the VIII International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases ratified that the fight for sovereignty constitutes a challenge of the people, a challenge for the balance of life itself.
With the participation of leaders of the World Peace Council, Fernando González, Hero of the Republic and president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples, in addition to the highest authorities of the province, the final declaration of the event that brought together 80 participants from 30 countries, including some in virtual mode.
Sara Román Palmezano, member of the Committee of Friends of Cali, in Colombia, on behalf of her colleagues expressed support for Cuba in the fight for the return of the territory occupied in Guantánamo Bay by the base imposed against the will of the people and Cuban government.
Likewise, he said that the representatives of pacific and solidarity organizations denounced the use of the Guyana Esequiba controversy to promote the presence of the southern command that undermines the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace and highlighted its validity in the face of threats. that loom over the stability of the region.
They also spoke out for the right of the Haitian people to find a peaceful solution to their internal problems and rejected any type of intervention in that country, as well as supporting the will of Venezuelans to hold their next elections in an atmosphere of peace. '
During the event held in the Caimanera park, student Lauren Cuza Ruano, from the Luis Ramírez López school, on behalf of the children of the territory, expressed that although she lives very close to the US base, she feels protected by those who guard the area bordering that enclave, unlike the children of Palestine, today affected by the impact of the Zionist attacks against their nation.
For this reason, she urged peace fighters to continue their actions to end this and other armed conflicts on the planet that threaten all of humanity.
After the final declaration of the event, the delegates fraternized with the residents of Caimanera and learned about their socioeconomic life, artistic and sports manifestations.
The eighth International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases concluded in the easternmost Cuban province with the call to strengthen pacifist actions to confront the escalation of interference of all kinds and conflicts in the world.
