Over the last 65 years, the Cuban people has suffered as a result of its inclusion in the list and of state terrorism

Havana, May 18 (RHC) The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, today thanked the statements of several governments against the inclusion of the Island in the US list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism.

Rodríguez affirmed on X that with their statements these nations encourage the US administration to remove Cuba from such list, which have devastating consequences for its population. He also stated that the Cuban people, over the last 65 years, have been victims of this, including State terrorism, employed as a weapon to destroy its Revolution.

On May 15, Secretary of State Antony Blinken removed Cuba from a list of countries that, according to the United States, “do not fully cooperate” in the fight against terrorism. Paradoxically, the Caribbean nation continues in the list of its sponsors.

On that occasion, the head of Cuban diplomacy stated that 'the United States has just admitted what is known to everyone -that Cuba collaborates fully with efforts against terrorism'.

Cuba was first included in the list during the administration of President Ronald Reagan in 1982, but in 2015 then-President Barack Obama said that this designation had no merit in the case of the island and withdrew it.

However, on January 12, 2021, days before leaving office, Donald Trump bequeathed to his successor Joe Biden the reinclusion of Cuba on said list, which he maintains despite the demand that he rectify that position in his policy towards Cuba. (Source: PL)
