In the context of an activity for the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Kuwait, the ambassador of the Arab country highlighted the strengthening of relations through cooperation projects

Havana, May 21 (RHC) The Ambassador of Kuwait to Cuba, Adel Mubarak Farjan Al-Adgham, highlighted the strengthening of his country's relations with the Caribbean state through the development of cooperation projects in several areas.

Al-Adgham made the statement this Monday in the context of an activity for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.

At the meeting, the president of the National Institute of Water Resources, Antonio Rodríguez, recognized the Arab country's support for the island in the sphere.

He indicated that the cooperation of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFEAD) began in 2003 with the execution of works regarding water resources in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Holguín and Havana.

The official explained that through this important mechanism, five loans were granted with a total amount of more than 102 million dollars, of which a figure greater than 86 million, equivalent to 84.7 percent, has been executed to date.

According to Rodríguez, with the financial contribution of KFEAD a study for the comprehensive solution to the flooding on the Malecón in Havana is satisfactorily implemented.

He also highlighted that through soft loans, projects have already been executed for the rehabilitation of water supply systems in the cities of Santiago de Cuba and Holguín. Furthermore, with the contribution of financial credits, Havana's aqueduct and sewage networks were also rehabilitated, which benefit the population with the supply of water.

This May 13, Cuba and Kuwait celebrated 50 years of diplomatic ties, with the common will to continue promoting relations of friendship and cooperation between both nations. The two states promote collaboration projects in fields such as health, biotechnology, water resources, environment, investment protection and culture. (Source: PL)
