Havana, June 10 (RHC)-- The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Bruno Rodríguez, exchanged today with his counterparts from Belarus, Sergei Aleinik, and Egypt, Sameh Shoukry, with whom he reviewed the development of bilateral ties.

Both meetings took place on the sidelines of the BRICS Plus Council of Ministers that is taking place in the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod until June 11 with the presence of the member countries of the group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia , Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Iran) in addition to about twenty heads of foreign policy departments from like-minded countries, which represent regional interaction formats.

During the dialogue with his Belarusian counterpart, Rodríguez highlighted the high level of mutual relations and recognized Minsk's support for Havana in condemning the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean nation for more than six decades. with a broad upsurge in recent years.

Likewise, Cuba's foreign minister thanked the recent claim of the deputies of the National Assembly of the Eastern European State, who demanded the exclusion of Cuba from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism orchestrated by Washington.

After this exchange, he met with the head of Egyptian diplomacy where they also analyzed the current status of joint ties, as well as issues on the multilateral agenda.

In particular, Rodríguez agreed with Shoukry on the need to end Israel's escalation against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and support for the recognition of Palestine as a State of the United Nations.

In the afternoon session, the top Cuban diplomat will also hold a meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Mario Vieria.

The Cuban Foreign Minister arrived in Nizhny Novgorod the day before to participate in the meeting of the BRICS Plus Ministerial Council, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.

Rodríguez will speak in the expanded session of the ministerial meeting, which, in the opinion of the hosts, will be the favorable platform for the exchange of opinions on current issues on the world agenda, even in the context of joint efforts to strengthen true multilateralism. in international relations.
