New homologation process for assembled vehicles begins in Cuba

Havana, June 24 (RHC) Authorities of the Ministry of Transportation (MITRANS) of Cuba today begin a new process of homologation of vehicles assembled by parts and pieces, aimed at natural persons who, for certain reasons, did not do so at the time.

According to information published by the Granma newspaper, the above was established with the publication in the Official Gazette in its ordinary edition number 55, of Resolution 95 of 2024 of the MITRANS, which establishes the procedure for the approval of vehicles motor, trailers and semi-trailers, assembled by parts and pieces.

The Minister of Transportation, Eduardo Rodríguez, indicated on Facebook that there is progress in the legalization of vehicles that will contribute to the transportation of people at a time when it is so needed.

For his part, the head of the homologation project, Mario Pérez, explained in a recent press conference that the regulations are a new opening for this process in the offices of the National Department of Vehicle Registration and License of Driving of the Ministry of the Interior.

The process includes, initially, an automatic and digital census through the platform www.vap.transnet.cu, which will be valid 60 days from today. Then the platform will be available only for cases of file consultation by users.

As a novelty, the natural person, who at the time of carrying out the census is not in the country or has some impediment to be physically present at any stage of the process, may appoint a legal representative for the purposes.

Pérez commented that the presentation in the Census of a motor vehicle with its trailer or semi-trailer is allowed.

On the other hand, the general director of the Directorate of Automotive Transport of the Ministry of Transportation, Osvaldo Reyes, clarified that in this call vehicles declared unsuitable due to solvable technical aspects may be presented, as well as those that in the first homologation process were not accepted, as long as in both cases the technical aspects were solved.

He also reported on the creation of points, in alliance with the municipal headquarters of the Young Computer and Electronics Club, to provide advice when registering vehicles on the portal. (Source: PL)
