Havana, July 22 (RHC)-- The president of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba, Esteban Lazo, held official conversations in Havana with his Russian counterpart, Viacheslav Volodin, the Parliament of the Caribbean country reported this Sunday.

According to the legislative body, this Sunday the president of the State Duma (Lower House of the Russian Parliament) laid a wreath in tribute to the National Hero, José Martí.

Volodin arrived in Cuba on Saturday to carry out a working visit, which includes meetings with Cuban authorities.

The Russian parliamentary leader was received by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, who pointed out that Volodin's presence in the Caribbean nation is very significant and reflects the excellent state of political and economic-commercial relations.

For his part, the head of the State Duma ratified the willingness to maintain the partnership between both nations and support for continuing the development of trade relations.

Volodin's visit occurs after the Third Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People's Power, in its 10th Legislature; and will contribute to strengthening the historical, strategic and endearing relations between Cuba and Russia, especially between both Parliaments  (Prensa Latina).
