President of Cuban Parliament travels to Vietnam for state funeral
Havana, July 24 (RHC) The President of the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba (Parliament), Esteban Lazo Hernandez, arrived in Vietnam on Tuesday to attend the state funeral of the General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Indochinese Nation, Nguyen Phu Trong.
The legislative body informed on social network X that during his stay in the brotherly country, the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba will express the deepest condolences on behalf of the Cuban government, state, Communist Party and people.
VCP General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away last Friday after a period of serious illness and advanced age.
The funeral of the beloved leader will be held on July 25 and 26, which have been declared national days of mourning.
Upon hearing the news of his death, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Raúl Castro Ruz, and the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel, expressed their condolences, describing Phu Trong as a great friend and promoter of friendly relations between the two countries.
In a letter to Vietnamese President To Lam, they highlighted the Party leader's contribution to socialism and his legacy for new generations.
