Cuban President highlights the fallacy of US democracy

Havana, July 25 (RHC) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said today that the reception given to Benjamin Netanyahu in the US Congress revealed the true nature of so-called American democracy.

Yesterday, once again, the masks of American democracy fell. We have seen, as Martí would say, "the entrails of the monster": a Congress that listens to the genocidal #Israel, while the police repress young people protesting the genocide in #Gaza, wrote the Cuban leader on the social network X.

The day before, the Israeli prime minister, who has an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court for war crimes, received an exuberant welcome, especially from the Republican representatives in the US Congress.

There, he thanked the United States for its support for the aggression that his government has maintained against Palestine since October 7.

That Tuesday, the Capitol Police repressed the participants of a sit-in in the Congressional offices, who were protesting against the presence of the Zionist leader, and made about 200 arrests.

A day later, as Netanyahu addressed a joint session of the U.S. Congress, a massive protest erupted in the streets outside the police-armored Capitol.

Netanyahu is expected to meet with President Joe Biden and will have a separate meeting with Vice President Kamala Harris, who reportedly did not attend his speech to the joint session of Congress due to scheduling conflicts.

According to Gaza officials, nearly 38,900 Palestinians have been killed and more than 89,000 wounded in the coastal enclave, while an undetermined number of bodies remain buried under the rubble of the bombed-out city. (Source: PL)
