Havana, July 30 (RHC)-- With the idea of promoting youth participation in the construction of the future, the National Council of the Federation of University Students (FEU) is taking place in Santiago de Cuba.

According to Ricardo Rodríguez, president of the organization, the discussion and approval of updated governing documents will be the focus of the debates during the next days, imbued with a profound transformative sense.

Rodriguez highlighted the intention of tempering the regulations to current times without losing the essence, with the purpose of strengthening membership and favoring the identification of students with the affiliation.

On the 102nd anniversary of the FEU, bringing together future professionals in the so-called Cradle of the Revolution confirms its commitment to the defense of the history of the country and the future, he said.

Nelson Palacios, coordinator of the students of the Course by Meeting modality, highlighted among the novelties of the sessions the approval of proposals to include them in the processes of the organization, in order to motivate their incorporation into the activities.

The student leader pointed out the importance of generalizing the positive experiences acquired in institutions such as the Enrique José Varona University of Pedagogical Sciences, where young people trained in this variant actively participate in the actions called for.

The meeting led to the tribute of delegates from all over the country to the martyrs of the affiliation before the monument erected at the Antonio Maceo headquarters of the University of Oriente, accompanied by leaders of the Union of Young Communists in the province.

The meeting pays tribute to Frank Pais, the young revolutionary, 67 years after his assassination, while honoring the martyrs of the assault on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on the 71st anniversary of the heroic revolutionary action.   (Source: ACN)
