Rains may be numerous in the west and center of the country
Havana, Aug 3 (RHC) The influence of the extensive area of clouds associated with the active tropical wave with a low-pressure center, which since yesterday has been passing over the national territory and today should leave the waters of the Strait of Florida, will keep the probability of numerous showers, rains and thunderstorms in western and central Cuba high.
According to the Master of Science Alis Varela de la Rosa, chief specialist of the Forecasting Center of the Institute of Meteorology, rainfall may become heavy and locally intense, although from the afternoon it will gradually decrease in the central area.
She indicated that, in the areas of showers and thunderstorms, the strength of the wind and the height of the waves may increase, while there will be swells along the entire northern coast of the Cuban archipelago, increasing to swells in that same coast of the western region, starting in the afternoon.
As suggested by the consensus of forecasting models, if the active tropical wave becomes a tropical storm this Saturday or tomorrow Sunday, it would be named Debby, and it would be the fourth of the present cyclonic season. (Source: Granma)
