Bolivia to pay tribute to Fidel Castro with conference

La Paz, Jul 12 (RHC) Historian Javier Larraín will head a panel today at the headquarters of the Andrés Bello Convention in this Bolivian city, which will analyze the figure of Fidel Castro as a statesman and revolutionary builder of socialism in Cuba.

Organized by the Guevarist Movement-Bolivia on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the birth of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution (August 13), the debate will also address his performance as an example and anti-imperialist and internationalist guide.

The beginning of a day in the context of this anniversary gathered this weekend at the Cuban embassy in La Paz Bolivian doctors and Antillean residents in the country.

Dozens of Bolivian professionals graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba together with their families, members of the Cuban community in Bolivia and officials of the diplomatic mission fraternized in a cultural political evening, headed by the Chargé d'Affaires, Yohanelis Gutiérrez.

On behalf of the graduates, the president of the Bolivian Movement of Solidarity with Cuba-La Paz, Dr. Alidson Gómez, referred to the experiences of today's health professionals on the Caribbean Island with their professors and in many of the houses where they were fraternally welcomed by the population.

The solidary mark left on many of them by the attention given by the author of History Will Absolve Me to Bolivian students and those from many other countries was the focus of the talks among the attendees.

On the part of the Cuban state mission in Bolivia, it was highlighted that this anniversary is commemorated two years after the centenary of Fidel Castro (August 13, 1926-November 25, 2016).

In that sense, the validity of the concept of Revolution bequeathed by the leader of the Cuban people concerning the sense of the historical moment was insisted.

"Revolution is to defend values in which one believes at the price of any sacrifice", it was insisted.

In relation to the aggressiveness of the United States with a multiplied economic, commercial and financial blockade and the inclusion of Cuba's name in the unilateral list of that government on sponsors of terrorism, the call to increase the struggle for its elimination was reiterated.
